   Friday                 January 27                       4 pm - 8 pm

   Saturday   January 28         10 am - 2 pm

 Community Centre, Doran Road

If you prefer living in the village of Midhurst, rather than the "City of Midhurst", come and sign the Petition.  The authorities need to understand that we care about our community, if we are to stand a chance of stopping this unnecessary intrusion into our way of life.

Here is the wording on the petition:

We value Midhurst as a village of beauty and historical significance on Willow Creek, in the Township of Springwater.  We value the clean environment, the rural way of life and the agricultural heritage of the area.

The Province of Ontario has established guidelines in a document entitled Places to Grow in which it designated the Township of Springwater as a rural development area and one which should accommodate a maximum growth in population of 6,500 new residents by the year 2031.Springwater Council has adopted a plan to increase the population of Midhurst by an estimated 28,000 new residents which would lead to significantly increased traffic and congestion, and a fundamental change in the character of the village.

We support the provincial land use policy and are opposed to the Midhurst Secondary Plan.

We petition the Township of Springwater, the County of Simcoe and the Province of Ontario to disallow the Midhurst Secondary Plan.

If you agree, please come to your Community Centre and have your say.  Coffee and cookies will be available, so bring a neighbour too!
